A killer has been defined as person or thing that kills. It can informally be described as an extremely difficult or unpleasant thing. Really, extremely difficult or unpleasant things are happening in African and Igboland. Africans and indeed Igbos are dying daily at an alarming rate under different circumstances mostly occasioned or aided and abetted by the unpatriotic and wicked decision, actions and in-action of politicians.
African and Alaigbo has become killing field of some sort carried out by state and non state actors and many are sleeping with their two eyes open, that is, if they are sleeping at all. They are either killed by the killer herdsmen or risks being killed by the rogue security agents loyal to the politicians and the political class. Those who escape the first two above , risk being killed by armed robbers, bandits, outlaws, kidnappers, 419ners, militants, ritualists, or cultist who are all indirect monsters created or empowered by political leadership failure driven by selfish personal interests. Others risk being killed by flood from poor drainage, accident from bad roads, starvation from hunger, electrocution from unregulated power voltage, fire disaster from ineffective fire services, accidental discharge or stray live bullets from security agents, diseases from dirty rivers and lack of portable water system, suffocation from crowded and poor learning environment and schools, building collapse from poor building regulation, fake drugs and poor medical facilities, even direct political assassination. The list is endless.
Considering that the person and things killing African and Igbos are mostly routed in the personal political interest of politicians and aimed at subjugating the masses, sabotaging attempts to build strong independent institutions to hold politician accountable for their actions, crushing and eliminating voices that challenges politicians impunity and selfish motives, and to rewarding politicians partners in crime; then it reasonable to say that most African politicians, including Igbo politicians are “killers”. They kill through non executed/ poorly executed/failed projects/contracts resulting in accidents and deaths, through poor health facilities resulting to untimely death or significant negative life changing health outcomes, through arming youths for personal political gains leading to the loss of innocent lives, through the looting of the collective treasury and banking same overseas for personal/family pleasure thereby under developing the home land and exposing talented citizens to risky behaviours which leads to their death, through destroying the livelihood and businesses of indigenous people and citizens with different political views or opinion, through impoverishing the masses and using the institutions established to protect them to kill them, and through criminal silence and actions against their own people's life and existence.
Somebody said there is corruption everywhere in world and that is not peculiar to Africa and Alaigbo. That’s right, corruption is a global issues, but there is a sense of patriotism amongst western politicians and there are strong independent institutions checkmating politicians excesses. However, there is so much impunity amongst African and Igbo politicians. They are not only unpatriotic, they are selfish, myopic, devilish, and have arrogate themselves as Gods and the law. Worst still, the existing institutions paid by the tax payers money are controllably loyal to the politicians and simply do their biddings at the detriments of their fellow citizens.
Thankfully, God is all knowing and knew from the beginning of time that the heart of men will be evil and He ensured that death will be an inevitable end of everyone. I wonder what would have become of Africa and indeed Igboland, if these politicians could buy death with their ill-gotten wealth. Thank goodness that all must die some day and remarkable for those who remains are found, all will be buried in a 6ft or less grave or even burnt to ashes. The power and authority, the wealth and the fame, the good looks and beauty, the children and the friends, the god-fathers and the evil loyalist etc, none is going to the grave with the dead. Indeed, all is vanity and the “killer” will still be killed by death.
The only thing that outlives anyone is his or her good deeds, their positive impact on the lives of others and their good legacies. No wonder the likes of Late Sam Mbakwe (former Governor of Imo State) and Michael Opara (Former Premier of Eastern Region) are still the political leadership benchmark in alaigbo till date. Today's Igbo politicians are likened to the Igbo folklore of “the King that deceives their subject”. Off course, someone would argue that "some of the politicians are trying". Yes, any of them that is not guilty of some of the points mentioned above and many more that are not listed here, will be deemed a true leader. Please, mention one.
